After coming home from Melbourne we had another week off just staying home in our house.
we did some planning to get started preparing the garden. Then on the Sunday we went to visit Mikes parents and after a talk with James girlfriend we decided to go and see if there was any cats up for adoption at the vet. So about ten minutes after we had called a few places knew they had a cat there, we jumped in to the car and drove there. I told myself we were just going to have a look, because the cat was medium to long haired and i was going for a short haired cat.
Long story short, we saw her for about five minutes in a meeting room, and the first thing she did was come to have a cuddle with our legs. At that point we got to know she had been picked up wandering a suburb close by when they think she might have been three months old and absolutely tiny, walking around trying to look for food. And since then she had lived at the vet for three months without anyone looking for her or any people showing much interest to adopt her, and at that point in the conversation there was no return. We could not leave her there any longer.
So i am pleased to introduce our beautiful tortoise cat Elsa.
She has been with us close to 4 weeks and is about 9 months old now. She seems to have settled in quite well, and we decided her birthday is on the 14th of February. She is still no lap-cat but does appreciate cuddles if its on her own terms. We are sure she will get more close to us as time goes by.
We are also going to have her living inside permanently, because we do not want her getting hit by a car. The best cats in Australia are cats who live inside and can not eat the local wildlife. Or for that matter get killed by cat haters that just kill them for fun.
I have to say that the kind of people who willfully hurt animals are equal to murderers and rapists in my book.
Work has been picking up since i got back from holidays, its coming in to the Christmas season. So naturally we are getting busier. My studies are taking up a lot of my time too, because we have a test coming up the first week of November. This time its quite a lot of legislation and it has taken me some extra time to find my way through all the sections and paragraphs and diagrams. Id hate to have done all the studying and then just not understood what i have read, so i have made sure i have been spending some more time on trying to get all of it in to my head.
There has been some resignations at work too but so far i don't know if they will hire new people to fill the gaps. I guess i will find out eventually anyway.
We have also celebrated our three year wedding anniversary a few weeks ago. We went to the C restaurant and had a really nice evening. The C restaurant is a revolving restaurant where you get a 360 degree view around the city as you are having your meal. The thing is that it is spinning so slowly that you don't really realize your moving unless you look out through the windows a while.
I would like to go back there one day, because the food was awesome. The only downside that was not really a down side was that it a bit more fancy than I'm used to, so i felt a little bit out of place.
