The past week has been very eventful and not necessarily always in a way that would be considered to be good.
Last weekend i put together a bookshelf and a desk. The desk was for the study and it actually feels like a proper study now. The Bookshelf was for the guest room also so called the library. There is only a tiny problem at the moment. The bookshelves have not been attached to the wall yet. So we need to get a drill to drill the holes to attach them before i can start unpacking and organizing books in to them.
On Monday there was a storm, with strong winds and rain. It was a gray and dark drive to work in the morning weather and increasingly got more curious as i got closer to work, as i started to realize the destruction that had happened over night.
There were fallen trees, police redirecting traffic and there were snapped power poles that looked like something snapped them like dry twigs.
I managed to find somewhere to park and there was no power at work, we had to go in the side gate because the main gate is power operated. As time were ticking away, Still while not having any power, my workmates snapped up some pieces of information from other businesses next door, that there had been a tornado in the area.
And in the end by lunch time we got told we could just go home because the power company had made an announcement that the power would not come back until 18:00 that night. It did not actually get up and running again until 23:00.
I never realized how much damage even a small tornado could cause, but i have realized now that it can be quite unforgiving. Even after watching the news from America ,how much destruction they can cause, it is kind of unreal if you have not been there and seen it yourself, and then again even at the same time it is unreal because you see the destruction all around you. Our house was not even close to the destruction and my job was lucky that it was not in the path of the tornado itself, the only thing they got was heavy rain and a power out.
The cleanup around the area has been ongoing all week, and also there has been quite a lot less trees (and also a few less fences) around.
On the Wednesday my manager also told me he was going on holidays the next day (on the Thursday night), so i needed to be up to date with everything. I have been working hard to get everything finished so it's ready for him to go.
Today, the first day of him being away from work there has been a lot of unexpected things. People sending in things last minute, not being informed what documentation they need by whoever sent them to us, or things we did not have any clue it was on its way until we got the notice that the ship comes in to port in a few days time.
There was also the horrible event of the MH17 going down and we had to figure out that we were not affected in any way. We were not, even though we had something that just missed the flight by a few hours.
I feel really sorry for all the people lost and i cant imagine how much pain all the relatives and friends to the passengers and crew would feel at this moment. I really wish this kind of thing will never happen again.
Today has flown past in record speed, i looked at the time at 20:40 and then again at 16:02. It felt like just a few minutes.
This weekend is going to get spent doing things around the house, and shop for the weekly supply of food. After that i will let the relaxing times happen, and at this point in time i think it will mean that i am going to have one of my rare drinks per year and play some dungeons and dragons and be nerdy.

We do not want the bookshelves to fall. It is still really exciting even if its not really 100% there yet. I absolutely love the desk, even if i have not yet gotten to try it out because its always occupied.
I am sure i will get to eventually. It is good that it is getting used instead of having a study that never gets used.
