We are back from Sweden. To begin with id like to say thank you for every one who chose to put up with us the not very long time at all that we had to ration out in between all of you. As to be so geeky to quote a certain bestselling book and following movie about how i felt at the time: "- I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread " Secondly to not make this post a week long, i have decided to split the visit in half. To be honest, it helps my fingers too in a way.
As i said in the last post i wrote we did not know we were going at all since there was very big problems for us to get our tickets so close to the actual trip. In the end we got a call from the travel agent who had managed to find two tickets that they had given us on a reduced price because of what had happened, On flights that already had been fully booked. So after that we only had a couple of days to actually get ready and then go.
The flight there was quite average,on the down side to it all, we had no money converted to be able to eat in Doha, and on all the flights there were pretty much constant turbulence. We were tired when we finally landed from the last flight. And were greeted by Dad, Nina and a selection of my younger siblings at the airport. We went to dads house to say hello to every one there, and then shortly after we were taken to moms house and settled in.
The day after we went to the arena to see my Cousin play ice hockey. The Finals qualifying match before moving up to the qualifying professional series. There we also talked a bit to my grand dad, who had arranged the tickets. It felt very good being home and to know that when granddad saw us he almost tackled a security guard to get to me for a hug. We bought team hoodies in the break between the first part and the middle. My cousins team won the series and it was a really good game with lots of nail biting moments.
The Saturday we went to Nina to meet some of my friends that was going there, We also walked to my other grand parents who lives just 10 minutes away. After that visit we went back to Ninas to mingle. We also went to one of my friends work to surprise him.
Sunday the 7th we went to dads house again and he took us out on a snow mobile ride up the mountains behind hes house. Nina came there too after us mentioning it at her get together the day before. So for both her and Mike it was their first time on a snowmobile. The view up on the mountain was really nice.
I got to drive back to the house on the way down.
Back at the house again there was a BBQ in the BBQ hut. Where mike got to try Parisare, a Swedish BBQ sausage in the size and shape (when sliced) of a hamburger patty. He really liked it.
On the Monday we went to the bank so i could take out some money from my account so we would manage a while. I forgot my ID at home so mom had to vouch for me being me. After that we went shopping for kids clothes for the funeral. We found black dresses in the end, and a black pair of dress pants. In the shops Mike entertained himself with surprising unsuspecting shop attendants by talking English to them.
After that we went to the candy house, to choose some assorted candy. We left the shop holding a big bag each while at the same time we were a bit shorter on money.
The Tuesday we spent the day preparing for all the guests to come for a post- funeral get- together at my moms house. We also spent some time outside in the fresh air.
The funeral came around and all of that day got pretty much as you would expect. Lots of crying, and later on the after get- together also remembering what an incredible person Robin was.
All helped writing down a memory for the memory book to remember how robin was. All except me, i am going to write down all i can possible remember about him in a little book here, and then choose a couple of the memories to send to the book. One of robins friends were taking photos during the funeral and i hope i will be able to get them. Or any other photos taken by anyone there.
I'm also waiting to hear from someone knowing the result of the autopsy report about what it was that actually happened and why. Because at the moment that's my biggest questions.
Part two of this post will come soon.
