It is now time i write here again.

This year so far have been packed with things, so i will try to remember as much as possible and at least try to start from the beginning and work my way to current time in the next few blog posts.
I do not remember in what exact order things have happened in the beginning of the year but i guess that may not matter too much, i am going to try to remember the best i can.

We went to the X-Trail Moto trials championship again this year, This time it was held indoors in an Arena. Its been the first year we have been to the X trials where we did not get drenched because of rain. And last year the event got cancelled late on in the race because there was a storm and at the same time as there was flooding there was also a bush fire close by to the event location because of a lightning strike. So the organisers decided to close the event early to get people home safely.
This year the course was as good as ever with some new challenges that kept you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

This year has also continued the first few months in the same fashion as my Christmas and new-year but in a more tragic sense. On Australia day we went in to the City to see the Skyworks fireworks display and after the drive in to the city and parking underground in a parking area we got told by the security guards at the underground parking that the whole event had just been cancelled due to a plane crash in the river. It just happened as we were parking so we didn't see it or know about it until the guards told us and a woman that came to talk to the guards after us said she was on the bridge crossing over the river at the time and saw the plane go down.
The two people in the plane sadly passed away at the scene and water police and emergency services had started to swarm to lock down the city.
There were ambulances and police lining the streets putting up blockades in street corners and a lot of people had been on the river shores with their families and seen the crash first hand.
At the advise of the security guards we packed ourselves back in our car and we only just managed to get out of the city before the police had blocked all the exits.

In our numb shocked state we decided to go visit mikes family for a bit, and after spending a few hours there talking things out we drove home in the dark only to discover a Bush fire in our estate.
I then made my first emergency call to alert the emergency services of the fire and found out the fire fighters were on their way already.

The rest of that surreal day i spent sitting on our driveway , looking at the fire sometimes licking the sky beyond the roofs of the nearby houses, and the orange glow in the sky, prepared with keys in hand ready to jump in to the car and leave the area in case it looked like the fire was getting any closer.
Luckily that did not happen and the fire did not come much closer at all.
A few days after the fire, I took a walk down the direction where the fire had been and saw that it had come about a kilometre away from our house. but about three hundred metres off the outer houses of the estate.
It was too close for comfort and It is just really good that the fire fighters here are so incredibly good at their job.

In the end i just felt lucky we did not see the plane crash, knowing two people died, as well as not having to abandon our home fleeing a fire.
It was definitely a day full of wake up calls. We are lucky we have each other and our way of life.
